„Mad World“ was written by Roland Orzabal and sung by Curt Smith in 1982. It was the first chart hit of the band Tears for Fears and appeared on their debut album „The Hurting“. The song gained further attention when a cover version by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules was released for the film “Donnie Darko“ in 2001 and became a UK number one hit.
