Comping is a mixture of the expressions “to accompany” and “to complement”. In Jazz Drumming comping describes the rhythms drummers add to the swing pattern in order to support melody lines or improvised solos.
In this course you learn how to incorporate the snare drum, the bass drum and the hi-hat at both the 8th note rate and the triplet rate. With John Riley’s challenging ideas you really enrich your jazz vocabulary.
